I wrote a small piece for the El Ressala local newspaper. It’s a review of Hakim’s show in Montreal at the Olympia. Click here to read it (page 17)!

This is the third part of the Coffee Shop series. The inspiration behind this Coffee Shop series was Jasmine’s style. Since I had the idea of the series and had previously collaborated with Jasmine, I always knew I wanted her in the series, and I always knew I wanted her style to bring up that chic side of the series, if that makes any sense. Jasmine, a fashion blogger whom you can follow here, agreed to the idea. When I contacted her for this collaboration, she told me she wanted to change her Instagram feed a little bit and really wanted some pink in her pictures. This “criteria” led to the choice of the café: Ginkgo.

Two summers ago, I planned a photoshoot with a fashion influencer I hadn’t seen in three years. She was telling me how nice the pictures I had recently posted on Instagram were. She looked pleasantly surprised. When I thanked her for the compliment, she asked me, “How are your pictures nicer? Did you buy a new camera?” I happily replied, “No, I became a better photographer.”
For the longest time, I feared not improving as a photographer. Sometimes, it is difficult for me to say that I am a professional photographer because, first, hello imposter syndrome, and second, I don’t take photos for a living. WARNING: SPOILERS
Since the pandemic, my favourite hobby has been to escape reality in every way I can. Since I prefer to stay safe and stay in, I watch a couple of movies and/or tv shows and read books every day after work and during the weekends. I’m into Egyptian movies and TV shows so bad. I have watched so many of them that I decided to write reviews again on my blog. I’ll write about all kinds of movies, music, books, etc. even if I’m late. I’ll write whenever I feel like it and today, I feel like writing about Lo2lo2, starring Mai Omar.
The show tells the story of a girl, Lo2lo2, who grew up in extreme poverty and was abandoned to an orphanage by her grandmother who couldn’t take care of her. Her father was a greedy criminal, and her mother was arrested instead of him because he ran away. When she became an adult, Lo2lo2 decided to escape the orphanage with her only friend, Marwa (played by Hadeer Abdelnasser), and start a new life. Lo2lo2 always dreamt of becoming a singer. The show goes on showing the ups and downs of a young woman who finds fame, and once she does, her life is never the same.

This year is quite a strange one for everyone across the globe. Our worlds are changing drastically on so many levels: culturally, socially, politically, financially, and most importantly, healthily.
One of the traditions I’ve kept over the years is to travel to a particular place every year. My plans this year have been cancelled, but I decided to be creative: I don’t need to travel physically, but I can travel back in time. As a matter of fact, I thought, why not write about some past trips and take my readers with me?
