I’m a cinephile. Sometimes, I think to myself, “if I can go back in time and change my university program, I would choose cinema.” I did think of doing my masters in film studies and I even dreamt of studying at the UCLA, but life never goes as planned… We never know, right? However, that doesn’t mean I never studied film. As a matter of fact, when I was in CEGEP, I was in the Arts and Letters program and attended various courses on film. Then, in university, I chose World Cinemas as my minor.

Yesterday, I encountered racism, so I decided to write about it because ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. 

Yesterday, I encountered racism and I was shocked as if it was the first time I had ever lived it, but then I wondered why I surprised. It wasn’t the first time, but God knows just how many times. 

Yesterday, I encountered racism and it reminded me of all the other times it happened to me since I was a kid. It happened to my parents more times than it happened to me, but I’m slowly catching up on the number of times.

This year is quite a strange one for everyone across the globe. Our worlds are changing drastically on so many levels: culturally, socially, politically, financially, and most importantly, healthily.

One of the traditions I’ve kept over the years is to travel to a particular place every year. My plans this year have been cancelled, but I decided to be creative: I don’t need to travel physically, but I can travel back in time. As a matter of fact, I thought, why not write about some past trips and take my readers with me?

It’s no news to anyone that the world is currently suffering. For a lot of people, this is a wake-up call, a sign from God, a conspiracy, or simply one of those events that make history. During this time, we have all been asked to #stayhome because it does save lives, but social distancing can be very difficult for many. Some run to buy toilet paper, some use this time to work on projects they’ve put on the side for a while, and others get bored easily.
