I love music, but more than that, I love the artists behind the world-changing albums, songs, soundtracks… I love getting to know them even if it’s through a screen, simply watching an interview of them. It’s the closest I can get to digging into their minds and get a taste of their thoughts, mentalities, philosophies, creativity, etc. Therefore, when it comes to documentaries, I love it when it’s about an artist, living or dead, whether I am a fan of their music or not, because the one thing all musicians have in common is music. Though different, they all have creative processes they follow, they all go on a life-changing journey, and they almost all have a similar life/background. It’s thus never really about the artist per se but more about their creativity. Here is a list of my favourite music documentaries.

This is the third part of the Coffee Shop series. The inspiration behind this Coffee Shop series was Jasmine’s style. Since I had the idea of the series and had previously collaborated with Jasmine, I always knew I wanted her in the series, and I always knew I wanted her style to bring up that chic side of the series, if that makes any sense. Jasmine, a fashion blogger whom you can follow here, agreed to the idea. When I contacted her for this collaboration, she told me she wanted to change her Instagram feed a little bit and really wanted some pink in her pictures. This “criteria” led to the choice of the café: Ginkgo.

Two summers ago, I planned a photoshoot with a fashion influencer I hadn’t seen in three years. She was telling me how nice the pictures I had recently posted on Instagram were. She looked pleasantly surprised. When I thanked her for the compliment, she asked me, “How are your pictures nicer? Did you buy a new camera?” I happily replied, “No, I became a better photographer.”
For the longest time, I feared not improving as a photographer. Sometimes, it is difficult for me to say that I am a professional photographer because, first, hello imposter syndrome, and second, I don’t take photos for a living. I only do it for my family and friends, for artistic purposes, or simply for fun. But I’ve come a long way since my first photoshoot. What makes a good photographer, you wonder? Here are a few things I learned.
